Anti-Weight Bias Summit

On September 29, 2006, the Rudd Center hosted an array of leaders in medicine, science, education, media, and policy for its first Anti-Weight Bias Action Meeting. The goal of this ground-breaking summit was to craft a plan of action to combat bias against overweight and obese people. Guests convened in small groups to brainstorm global, action-oriented strategies to reduce weight bias. The quality, creativity, and scope of ideas that emerged during the event were immense, and the commitment of so many experts and public figures to fight this prejudice was moving. The Rudd Center's Rebecca Puhl made a thorough and inspiring presentation summarizing what is known about weight bias and its effects on society.
