Genes May Increase Obesity Risk for Indian Asians
A research team led by Imperial College London has found that a gene sequence linked to weight gain and type 2 diabetes is more common in Indian Asians than other groups. This finding suggests a genetic explanation for notably high levels of obesity in Indian Asians, who comprise a quarter of the world's population, yet account for a much greater proportion of global cardiovascular disease.
